What is ECFE?

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for all Montevideo families with children between the ages of birth to kindergarten enrollment.  ECFE is based on the fact that the family provides a child’s first and most important learning environment, and parents are the child’s first and most significant teachers.  ECFE works to strengthen families and enhance the ability of parents to provide the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children.  Both day and evening classes are offered.  Our mission is to offer information and support for families and prepare all children to succeed in school.

What does a traditional or typical ECFE like like?

Class begins with parents and children playing together in the Early Childhood Room.  Parents then move to the parent room where they’ll have time to meet new neighbors, ask questions, and share parenting ideas with a professional parent educator.  Children continue to play in the children’s room, under the supervision of our licensed Early Childhood staff.  They will enjoy snacks, new art activities and making friends.
