🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Meet Elizabeth, Title Interventionist at Sanford Elementary School! Hello, I am Elizabeth Geurtz. I joined Sanford Elementary School as a Title Interventionist in February of last year. I am originally from Montevideo and recently relocated from Spicer to be closer to my family and friends. Before my current role, I worked as a Lead Therapist at MN Autism Therapy Center. I am thrilled about this new phase in my personal and professional life. I have been married to my best friend, Bobby, for seven years, and we have two daughters, Margaret (13) and Opal (6). As a family, we enjoy spending quality time together watching movies, playing games, and preparing meals. We're proud to have Elizabeth on our team! #Hawk Pride #StaffSpotlight

A member of the community contacted Mrs. Haff’s classroom with a special request for the students to decorate winter hats, asking that the reason remain a surprise. After capturing photos of the decorated hats, she knitted matching creations for each student. The students were astonished by the beautiful pieces she crafted for them.

🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Next up in our staff spotlight is a familiar face in a new role! We are happy to welcome Sarah Jensen to her new position as our elementary school nurse! Hello! My name is Sarah Jensen. I'm super excited for my new role as the school nurse for both Ramsey and Sanford elementary schools! I have always felt that taking care of and helping others is my calling in life. For the last two years, I worked as a paraprofessional at Ramsey Elementary School. I really enjoyed getting to know the students and staff, helping in the classrooms, and I'm looking forward to another great year providing health services to our elementary students and staff. I have four children: Autumn (20), Bryer (16), Christopher (15), and Emma (8). We love spending time outdoors together, whether it's fishing, gardening, grilling or just enjoying a good fire with smores. In my spare time, I enjoy taking care of my indoor succulent garden and baking. We're proud to have Sarah on our team! #HawkPride

I'm from Chaska Minnesota, and I went to college at Waldorf University. I'm a new fourth grade teacher at Sanford Elementary School. I am also coaching Junior High volleyball, as well as, C squad basketball. In my free time, I love to read, watch tv shows/movies, go for walks, grab coffee and go for a drive. After spending nearly fifteen years working as a Medical Laboratory Technician at CCM Health, I realized that my lifelong dream was to become an elementary teacher. I have spent the past five years working as a paraprofessional in the 3rd and 4th grade while pursuing my Elementary Education degree online through Southwest Minnesota State University. I live in Dawson with my husband, Peter, and our four children: Brooklyn (17), Lauren (15), Nolan (12), and Addelyn (9). Some of my favorite pastimes include reading, going for walks, playing card games, and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to the start of the school year and getting to know the fabulous fourth graders at Sanford Elementary. Help us welcome Sarah to the Thunder Hawk community!

🌟New Staff Spotlight!🌟 We are excited to welcome Brooke LaHaye to Thunder Hawk Territory for the 2024-2025 school year! #HAWKPRIDE My name is Brooke LaHaye, and I am excited to be joining Montevideo Schools at Sanford Elementary as the music teacher. My family moved to Montevideo this summer from Dallas, GA, near Atlanta. I was born in Minnesota, and grew up in West Fargo, ND until I finished high school. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I have lots of experience teaching K-4th grade as a classroom teacher and supporting K-7th grades in various other roles including paraprofessional, Title 1 Teacher, and Special Education teacher. I have a husband, Gregg, who works from home as a Software Engineer and three children who will be attending Montevideo Schools. Zach is almost 15 and will be starting 9th grade. Josh is 12 and will be starting 7th grade and Becca is 10 and will be starting 6th grade. We also have two dogs: Cody and Luna. My family enjoys traveling, riding our bikes, going out to eat, and spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy going for walks and going to the gym. We love Montevideo and are looking forward to meeting friends and getting more involved in the community. Help us welcome Brooke to the Thunder Hawk community!

The Montevideo Public Schools District Office will be closed from July 1, 2024, to July 5, 2024, for cleaning. Staff may be reached by email or phone.

The Montevideo Public Schools District Office hours will be 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday-Thursday, and 7:30-11:30 am on Fridays, starting June 3rd through August 9th.
