The 22nd Annual Flood of Jazz concert is Friday, April 28, 2023! The theme this year is "A Jazz Time Warp" and will feature incredible jazz songs through the decades. We are also excited to announce that The Paper Clips Quartet will be our guest artists this year. Don’t miss the great music, the incredible tasty treats, and the chance to support the Montevideo Public Schools band program! Tickets are only $12.50 each. Tickets are available to purchase at the Montevideo High School office during normal school hours.

Montevideo High School has SEVEN students competing in the CSC! The Schwan's Culinary Skills Challenge features high school students showcasing their artistic and scientific creations through hands-on competitions and seminars. The event is held at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) in Marshall, MN. Competitors in the Culinary/Cooking Competition vie for SMSU Scholarships of $500, $1000, and $2000! (SMSU Scholarship Policy) Main Cooking Competition Team: Zander Duellman, Caitlyn Harlow, and Osman Cruz Cupcake Decorating: Mackenzie Anderson, Grace Pauling, and Mari Huseby Knife Skills: Soren Nelson Wish our competitors luck!

Congratulations to the Thunder Hawk Speech team! They had a great evening at the Subsection Speech Tournament in Windom yesterday. Everyone advances to the Section 3A Speech Tournament in Redwood on April 15. Junia Fitzkappes- 2nd Place in Discussion, Madison Van Binsbergen- 2nd Place in Extemp Reading, Thomas and Elisabeth Philaya- 2nd Place in Duo, Ellie Christopherson and Liliana Birdsall- 4th place in Duo, and Lara Krueger and Alex Fultz-5th place in Duo. MHS Art students chose an important African-American to paint in a high contrast style and write a biography on that individual. The paintings are acrylic, large format (3' x 4') on roofing-tar paper. Beautiful work!

Facilities Referendum Needs
This past Monday, the Montevideo Concert Choir and Concert Band participated in Large Group Festival. Each ensemble had the opportunity to perform in front of 3 judges and receive a rating. They also each got a chance to work with one of the judges. Both the Choir and the Band received a "Superior" rating - the best rating possible! We are proud of our talented ensembles - WAY TO GO HAWKS!"
