🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Meet Whitney, one of our Small World Preschool Instructors at the Hawks Nest Early Childhood Center! Hello! My name is Whitney Sandven. I am a Montevideo Graduate. Years ago, I worked in Small World as Peggy's assistant! I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and four years of experience as a Head Start teacher and four years as a Small World assistant. After losing daycare, I became a stay-at-home mom. Three and a half years later, I'm excited to be back in a classroom! I have a 10-year-old, Breckon, and a 3-year-old, Amiah (who I'm lucky enough to have in my own class). One of my favorite hobbies is kayaking. I also enjoy gardening, canning, baking, creating things, sewing, hunting, camping, and ice fishing with my family. We're proud to have Whitney on our team! #HawkPride #staffspotlight

🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Next up in our staff spotlight is a familiar face in a new role! We are happy to welcome Sarah Jensen to her new position as our elementary school nurse! Hello! My name is Sarah Jensen. I'm super excited for my new role as the school nurse for both Ramsey and Sanford elementary schools! I have always felt that taking care of and helping others is my calling in life. For the last two years, I worked as a paraprofessional at Ramsey Elementary School. I really enjoyed getting to know the students and staff, helping in the classrooms, and I'm looking forward to another great year providing health services to our elementary students and staff. I have four children: Autumn (20), Bryer (16), Christopher (15), and Emma (8). We love spending time outdoors together, whether it's fishing, gardening, grilling or just enjoying a good fire with smores. In my spare time, I enjoy taking care of my indoor succulent garden and baking. We're proud to have Sarah on our team! #HawkPride

🌟New Staff Spotlight!🌟 We are excited to welcome Tanya Maethner to Montevideo Public Schools! Hello! My name is Tanya Maethner, and I am the principal at Montevideo High School. I'm happily married to my husband Kurt, and we have one daughter Addison, who is a freshman at the University of North Dakota. We added to our family by hosting four exchange students over the past ten years: Jannis (25), Mika (23), Luciana (18) and Lena (17). It's always been my plan to become a principal! One of my favorite aspects of education is getting to know high school students and watching them as they become their adult selves. I'm enjoying getting to know the students at MHS and the families in the district. Welcome to the Thunder Hawk family, Tanya! #HawkPride

🌟New Staff Spotlight!🌟 We are excited to welcome Heather Goslee to Montevideo Public Schools! Hi everyone! This is my first year as the district nurse for the Montevideo School District. I am excited for this new journey in school nursing. I was born in Montevideo and raised on a farm near Madison, MN. I am married to Kyle, who is starting his 24th year teaching here in the Montevideo School District. We have two amazing kids, our son Jace and our daughter Drew. We live out in the country with our two dogs Bucky & Blaze. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University. I have been a nurse for 12 years. I previously worked as an Oncology Certified Nurse in the Oncology/Infusion Department at CCM Health in Montevideo. Prior to working in oncology & infusion, I also worked in surgery, med/surg nursing, ER, and OB departments. Some of my favorites are: coffee, reading, baking, candles, Fall, and Christmas movies. Growing up, I challenged myself to see how many instruments I could learn before I graduated high school. I Graduated college from Concordia in Moorhead, MN in 2023. I live in my home with my husband, Elijah, and two dogs, Caboose and Freya. In my free time, I love to build Legos or play games. Help us welcome Mackenzie to the Thunder Hawk community!

After spending nearly fifteen years working as a Medical Laboratory Technician at CCM Health, I realized that my lifelong dream was to become an elementary teacher. I have spent the past five years working as a paraprofessional in the 3rd and 4th grade while pursuing my Elementary Education degree online through Southwest Minnesota State University. I live in Dawson with my husband, Peter, and our four children: Brooklyn (17), Lauren (15), Nolan (12), and Addelyn (9). Some of my favorite pastimes include reading, going for walks, playing card games, and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to the start of the school year and getting to know the fabulous fourth graders at Sanford Elementary. Help us welcome Sarah to the Thunder Hawk community!

🌟New Staff Spotlight!🌟 We are excited to welcome Adelle Kallemeyn to Thunder Hawk Territory for the 2024-2025 school year! #HAWKPRIDE Hello! I am the new special education teacher at the middle school for 5th grade this year. I am currently working towards my master’s degree at SMSU in Special Education as an Academic Behavioral Strategist. This will be my second year teaching in special education. I have a previous bachelor’s degree from Black Hills State University and Dakota State University in Communication Arts, Graphic and Website Design. Before deciding my career path in teaching, I worked on maintaining websites for 17 years, drove a school bus for 11 years and worked as a paraprofessional for 8 years. I enjoy helping students grow academically and seeing them grow up to be young adults with a bright future! I currently live on an acreage north of Lake Benton, MN with my husband, Jon, and two kids Kyle (17) and Kelly (14). I also have two cats that keep me company: Socks and Bella. When I’m not at school, I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends or watching movies. I am looking forward to a wonderful new year at Montevideo Middle School! We are happy to welcome Cassie to the kindergarten team at Ramsey Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year! #HAWKPRIDE My name is Cassie Nelson. I went to elementary school at Sanford and graduated from Montevideo High School. I received my teaching degree at Southwest Minnesota State University and became a preschool teacher. For 14 years, I have been dedicated and loved teaching young children, and like my preschool friends, I am excited to go to kindergarten! As my son heads off to college in Mankato, I look forward to a new adventure for myself. When I’m not teaching, I love getting outside to walk, bike, kayak, travel to national parks, and finding fun activities to do with family and friends. I hope to continue to help with the fabulous ECFE program in Montevideo and be a great addition to the already wonderful kindergarten team and staff at Ramsey! Help us welcome Cassie to her new role as a kindergarten teacher at Ramsey Elementary School!
