2020-2021 Goals

All Students Ready for Kindergarten

  • Goal:

    • The percentage of pre-kindergarten four-year-olds living in the Montevideo school district during the year prior to enrollment in Kindergarten who have an opportunity to attend a preschool in 2019-20 will continue to be above to 90% in the fall of 2020.

All Students in Third Grade Achieving Grade-Level Literacy

  • Goal:

    • The percentage of third grade students that meet or exceed reading standards on the MCA tests will increase from 53% or higher in the 2020-2021 school year. Also the percentage of students in grades 1-3 that meet or exceed spring to spring reading growth goals as assessed in a nationally normed achievement test will continue to increase for our 5 year goal (improving from 55% in year one and growing to 60% in year 5) and meet or exceed 57% in 2021.

  • Nationally Normed Achievement Test 5 Year Growth
    •  2020 = 55% 2021 = 57% 2022 = 58% 2023 = 59% 2024 = 60%

Close the Achievement Gap(s) Among All Groups

  • Goal:

    • The gap between the FRP students and the Non-FRP students in math will decrease so that at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, there will only be a gap of 16% as compared to 28% in 2019 as demonstrated on the MCA III by the following proficiency rate increases.

      • Non-FRP proficiency rates will increase from 70% in 2021 to 74% in 2023

      • FRP proficiency rates will increase from 48% in 2021 to 58% in 2023

All Students Career- and College-Ready by Graduation

  • Goal:

    • The percentage of all students enrolled October 1 in grade 8 at Montevideo Public Schools who earn an achievement level of Meets the Standards or Exceeds the Standards in mathematics on all state accountability tests (MCA, MTAS) will increase from 56% in 2019 to 65% by the Spring of 2024. In 2021, 60% will meet or exceed the state standards.

      • 2020 = 58 2021 = 60% 2022 = 62% 2023 = 64% 2024 = 65%

All Students Graduate

  • Goal:

    • Montevideo Senior High School will maintain the overall graduation rate of all students to above 90%, and the graduation rate of FRP students will continue to be above 85%.
