Operating Referendum

ISD #129 Operating Referendum

Montevideo Public Schools is asking voters on Nov. 3 to consider two key ballot questions to support our school district through an operating referendum. All of the funds go directly toward improving learning opportunities for students.

  • Question 1: Renewing Technology Commitment
The first question relates to renewing our technology allocation that is set to expire in the next year. Taxpayers will not see an increase if this passes; taxes will remain the same as they have been the past several years.

  • Question 2: Optimizing State Aid for Programs
The second question focuses on optimizing state aid in response to a legislative change to provide an additional $303.24 per pupil to expand programs that prepare students for their futures.

In both cases, 56% of the total funding for Montevideo School District would be provided by state aid!

Because of the district's last voter-approved operating referendum 9 years ago, Montevideo Public Schools has been able to go from being severely behind others in the region and in the state to a leader in technology. It meant that Montevideo students and staff were more prepared for distance learning last spring and hybrid learning this fall.
