Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

Response to Intervention (RtI) is a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for providing high quality instruction and interventions to accelerate learning for students who are at risk for not mastering grade level standards. This system is a three-tiered framework that uses increasingly more intense instruction and interventions based on student’s academic and/or behavioral needs.

At-risk students receive supplemental support in reading, math, and/or behavior management based on each child’s individual needs.  Each site has created screening processes to identify students who are at risk, progress monitoring to track a student’s progress and to determine if the selected intervention(s) is working, and have developed a model in which students can move to a Tier with more or less support based on the child’s progress.
