K-3 Literacy Plan

Reading at grade level by third grade is one of the many developmental milestones in a child's educational experience.  Providing quality curriculum, instruction, and assessments is the foundation for developing a comprehensive system of support for all learners.

Montevideo Public Schools monitors student learning by using Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) assessments and the Formative Assessment System for Teachers (FAST) assessments.  Students not meeting grade level expectations are provided extra reading instruction through the Title One Program or with additional instruction by the classroom teacher.
